"Wonder is a gift that helps open us to all our other gifts.
'Wisdom begins in wonder,' said Socrates.
According to Albert Einstein, wonder is the
source of all true art and science.
'Without it we are as good as dead,' he said.
'Everything, even darkness and silence, has wonder,' said Helen Keller.
'The more I wonder, the more I love,' said Alice Walker.' "
~ from The Thirteenth Gift
Reverence is often my favorite gift, the one that captures my imagination and seems to sparkle like a jewel with many facets.
Wonder - or wonderment - is one side of
the gleaming gem.
Rachel Carson, the pioneer environmentalist, urges us to help keep wonder alive in the children in our lives and in ourselves.
Become like little children. Scripture reminds us too.
Today, let's put thoughts and quotes aside, get out of our heads, drop into our hearts and try to see something like we did as children.
Maybe it
will be cirrus clouds that resemble cotton candy and angel wings and what else for you?
Maybe the sight of sunlight sparkling on water will bring you back in time.
It may be the sound of birds or bells or the scent of live Christmas trees.
Let's all look for a doorway into the wonderful world of wonder today.
With expectant joy,
Charlene
