"The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever."
~ Jacques Yves Cousteau
Oh, to be under a spell of wonder about the sea, the sky, the land, all of nature and her creatures.
"Wisdom begins in wonder," said
Socrates.
"Without wonder, we are as good as dead," said Albert Einstein.
"The more I wonder, the more I love," said Alice Walker.
What do you say about wonder?
After seeing a few of my posts from St. John, a friend* sent me the following wonder story:
"I was staying in a small hut on the beach
and I had my guitar. I started playing rhythmically and singing, chanting, around 5 or 6:00 p.m. And the birds began singing with me! I altered my singing to coincide and we began singing together. I must have had ten large vocal birds singing together with me. It was an incredible once-in-a-life experience."
Even just one such once-in-a-life experience can be life changing.
Today, think back over your life. Recall at least one magical connection you had with an animal. Or remember a time you felt saved by divine intervention. Or call to mind the guidance you received by an angelic encounter. Revisit some mystery or miracle that rocked your world.
Remember the awe you felt?
Isn't it time we restore our sense of wonder?
May we leave behind all taking nature
and life itself for granted.
May we see again with eyes of wonder and an opened heart.
And reverence,
Charlene
P.S. - Thank you Kirk. To all: I welcome your stories.
