"Often it takes some calamity to make us live in the present. Then suddenly we wake up and see all the mistakes we have made."
~ Bill Watterson
We've all experienced things that have shaken us awake and into the present
moment. Some have been in our personal lives. Some we have experienced with the world, such as devastating earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes, and events like 9/11.
Then and there we probably glimpsed eternity. We probably felt the power of love in a way beyond our usual day-to-day experience of it. We may have heard a life-saving message. We may have seen inner and hidden beauty. Perhaps we saw mistakes we
made too, as Bill Watterson said. But to a greater extent we realized that life is precious and that we are not here forever.
Today, without having our hearts broken open by a calamity, may we be moved to forgive, to refrain from judging, to glimpse eternity, and more. May we cherish our loved ones. May we consider postponed dreams. May we stretch our minds.
Using imagination, let's go to a place and time in which we are able to have a
little wake up without the shake up. While doing this, may we feel safe and hopeful.
And at peace,
Charlene
