"I have observed that some attributes of leadership are universal and are often about finding ways of encouraging people to combine their efforts, their talents, their insights, their enthusiasm and their inspiration to work together."
~ Queen Elizabeth II
We may not have the title of queen or king, but we all get to be leaders in some capacity.
Imagine if we each encouraged others to work together for the good of all and we led by example?
"Working together for the good of all" reminds me of an example of cooperation that we had in our backyard when we lived
in Phoenix, AZ.
We had a rich and diverse population of birds there. And we enjoyed feeding them. A favorite - for them and for us - was a big block of a seed mix that we kept under a giant mesquite tree.
Without fail, whenever we replaced the devoured one with a new block, many birds flocked and settled throughout the branches, watching and waiting after some chattering, cooing, cawing, and calling.
And without fail, a certain woodpecker arrived, dove for the block, and pecked into it, breaking down it's hard exterior so all the birds could feast.
The bird colony then spread the seed around the ground, making it accessible for all without fighting over it. The squirrels came too and ate peaceably among the birds.
Like those birds, may we work together for the good of all
today.
With love and reverence,
Charlene
