TODAY'S TOUCHSTONE

"To love someone means to see him as God intended him."

                  ~ Fyodor Dostoevsky

Her too, of course. And all of "them."

Few of us love this way. Not yet. Someday we will see behind the surface, past the foibles, beyond all the mannerisms that "bug" us and all the behavior and choices that we judge.

Frederick Buechner offers some direction for this:

“If we are to love our neighbors, before doing anything else we must see our neighbors. With our imagination as well as our eyes, that is to say like artists, we must see not just their faces but the life behind and within their faces.”

Today, let's aim to see beyond the outside of people.

Using intention and imagination, let's seek to see, hear, feel, or sense with our hearts the life, the light, and the love within others. Within ourselves too.

Here's another suggestion: Remember the Impossible Dream? The Man of La Mancha?

Like Don Quixote seeing beyond the coarse exterior of Aldonza to her inner beauty and grace, may we aim to glimpse the highest qualities in humanity today.

May we believe that our highest ideals and dreams can be manifested in the world too.

All is possible.

With faith,

Charlene
