"We are more often frightened than hurt; and we suffer more from imagination than from reality."
~ Lucius Annaeus Seneca
Often when we hurt it is because we are feeling unsafe, feeling safe is a basic need we all
have.
In order to feel relaxed, creative, empowered, productive, peaceful, playful - basically, in order to thrive - we need to feel safe.
One thing we can do to feel safe is to watch and influence our imaginings. Are we imagining worst case scenarios or positive outcomes?
We really can choose one way or the other.
If we
start to create dark, worrisome thoughts, let's say "No" to them. "No, you are not welcome here. I will not entertain you today."
To bring even more lightness and love into this process, we can try singing to those imaginings, "Go on now go, walk out the door. Just turn around now 'Coz you're not welcome
anymore."
Singing I Will Survive might make us smile, maybe even laugh, which is likely to further lift the frets and fears and help us replace thoughts that frighten us with thoughts that brighten us.
Let's give ourselves the gift of beautiful imaginings today.
For health and
peace,
Charlene
