“We should ask God to increase our hope when it is small, awaken it when it is dormant, confirm it when it is wavering, strengthen it when it is weak, and raise it up when it is overthrown.”
~ John Calvin
Even when hope feels missing - even when it feels small, dormant, wavering, or weak - hope is within us. Hope never abandons us even if we abandon it.
This is true for all the highest human qualities.
As Daisaku Ikeda says,
"There are no greater treasures than the highest human qualities such as compassion, courage and hope. Not even tragic accident or disaster can destroy such treasures of the heart."
When hope - or any other treasure of the heart - seems absent, let's ask, let's pray, that hope and all our inner resources are
stirred, awakened, strengthened, and brightened.
May what is best in us shine today.
With faith and gratitude,
Charlene
