"In the time we have it is surely our duty to do all the good we can to all the people we can in all the ways we can."
~ William

Yesterday I heard someone say, "Why bother having high environmental protection standards* if the rest of the world doesn't practice them?"
I am using this incident, not to focus today's reflection on protecting nature, although that certainly is worthy of our attention.
I'm sharing it because it led me to wonder how often do we let the low performance of
others keep us from doing good? And how often do the high standards of others inspire us to do good?
But instead of looking outward toward either the high or the low for guidance, why not look inward? Surely the wisdom and love that dwells within us is encouraging us to do all the good we can in all the ways we can.
Businesswoman and philanthropist Shari Arison believes that:
"Doing Good is a simple and universal vision. A vision to
which each and every one of us can connect and contribute to its realisation. A vision based on the belief that by doing good deeds, positive thinking and affirmative choice of words, feelings and actions, we can enhance goodness in the world."
I believe that too. Do you? Or not?
It may be buried under fears, hurts, hates, misguided teachings and beliefs that limit us, but with all my heart and soul I believe that within
each of us there is a light guiding us toward the good.
Today, let's each listen for that voice.
How are you being led toward some good action? Toward a deed that reflects the beauty in you? Toward love? Compassion?
Let's be the good we want to see in the world.
With joy,
Charlene
PS - * After that conversation, I did some
research and read that actually the U.S. ranked 33rd in the world (in 2014) with regard to environmental protection.
