"The moment we choose to love we begin to move against domination, against oppression. The moment we choose to love we begin to move towards freedom, to act in ways that liberate ourselves and others."
~ Bell Hooks
Yes. It's about
love again today. A friend sent me a much-appreciated email with quotes from lesser-known sources. Many pertain to love.
I thought you might appreciate them too, since most of my quotes are from the often-quoted.
Besides the encouragement to love, there is something else to consider in this Bell Hooks quote. And that is the notion that something powerful happens in the moment we choose.
Perhaps not every time, but now and then haven't you
actually felt something stir and build in you at the moment you choose? An energy? The choice could be to love, to forgive, to let go, to commit to anything that is positive.
Can you recall a time when something responded outside of you at the moment of choice... or shortly after?
A W. H. Murray quote now comes to mind:
"... the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things
occur to help one that would otherwise never have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of incidents and meetings and material assistance..."
Providence meets us in such moments.
Let's commit to bring love to all that we do, even if, especially if, we are facing hatred or any kind of oppression.
With hope,
Charlene
