"Everybody born comes from the Creator trailing wisps of glory... I believe that every person is born with talent."

"What a beautiful image... every newborn trailing wisps of glory. Those few words say a lot about the dignity and worth of every child...every grown up person too.
While it's true that as the newborn grows and ages, there is a loss of babyness, innocence, and wonderment along with a lessening of trust and readiness to love (in part because fear and hate are taught and modeled to children).
May we do all we can to soften fear and hate, to heal fear and hate, and to replace fear and hate with understanding and love.
I believe every person is still trailing wisps of glory. I've never see it. But every now and then, when we are at our best and we others at their best, I think we can sense something beyond what we see with our eyes.
Again I think of Thomas Merton and the sudden shift of vision he had when he saw glory in all people even brighter than a trailing wisp.
May we at least aim to sense or simply have faith that the
inherent gifts of birth, the glorious qualities of soul, are present in everyone we encounter today.
May we put our talent to good use too.
With love,
