"We have always held to the hope, the belief, the conviction that there is a better life, a better world, beyond the horizon."
~ Franklin D. Roosevelt
Let's hold to this hope while we vision respect, love, and peace taking hold among us.
I recently posted on Facebook, as had many others: Imagine what seven billion humans could accomplish if we all loved and respected each other.
I actually shared it several times. Each time, the message received many comments, nearly all positive and hopeful.
Only rarely did someone say, "It will never happen."
Sometimes, it does seem like a far-fetched dream, unlikely to happen. But, if we remain unwilling to even imagine humanity loving, don't we contribute to its improbability?
When the world says, "Give up,"
Hope whispers, "Try it one more time."
While the author of
this quote is anonymous, perhaps this message is written on all our hearts.
Deep within each of us, even if it is covered with layers of discouragement and despair, there is hope.
With love and child-like wonderment, let's uncover that hope. Instead of judging all the wrongs we see, let's reach back in time and inward and re-experience the feelings, the knowings, and the enthusiasm of the children we once were.
Let's dare to hope, to dream,
and to imagine.
Let's also dare to take steps toward realizing our beauty-filled dreams.
In closing, I want to again share my favorite Pierre Teilhard de Chardin quote: Someday...we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, (wo/man) will have discovered fire.
Seeing it so,
Charlene
