Hopefully, those deep disturbances have
not drained our spirits.
While we still have the gift of life, our seemingly deadened spirits can be renewed. Our diminished vitality can be reinvigorated. Our creativity and enthusiasm can return.
All of our gifts can be revitalized.
"Don't let the light go out" plays now in my mind. Do you remember the Peter, Paul, and Mary song, Light One Candle?
Sometime today let's light one candle. Yes, many of us just lit candles for Hanukkah and Christmas.
Let's light another one today for the New Year, for new hopes, for renewed spirits.
With love,
Charlene
PS - With a prayer that the great goodness and beauty of the life force in each of us, our
country, our world, and all humanity will be sparked, stirred, and roused, here are some of the lyrics:
Don't let the light go out!
It's lasted for so many years!
Don't let the light go out!
Let it shine through our hope and our tears.
Light one candle for the strength
that we need
To never become our own foe
And light one candle for those who are suffering
Pain we learned so long ago
Light one candle for all we believe in
That anger not tear us apart
And light one candle to find us together
With peace as the song in our hearts
