"I understand I am not the owner of my talent. I'm not the owner of anything. Everything I have is a gift from God. And even the *#z^/*! things that happened to me, that still happen to me, are gifts to teach me lessons and make me stronger."
~ Madonna
You may have heard Madonna's acceptance speech for Billboard's 2016 Woman of the Year Award.
As one might expect, it was a bit shocking and crude. Mostly it was real, open, and honest in a vulnerable way. It was revealing, moving, and inspirational too. It was very Madonna.
When I heard her say - with what appeared to me as sincerity, gratitude, and reverence - that her talent and everything she has is a gift from God, I knew I
would quote her here.
Today, let's consider not only our talent and all our inner resources as gifts from God, but that all that has happened to us and all that is happening now as gifts to teach us lessons.
I believe we are all being guided toward greater love, deeper compassion, heartier courage, and more profound wisdom.
This I hope. This I
pray.
With faith,
Charlene
