"If we want to create a viable, peaceful world, we've got to integrate compassion into the gritty realities of 21st century life."
~ Karen Armstrong
Not everyone values compassion.
Some think it's a weakness, rather than the strength that it is.
I know you value compassion. If you didn't, I doubt you would be a subscriber. In fact, I think we could be a Compassion Club.
No worries. No dues. No meetings. Thank you for participating the way you
do.
Seriously, how do we integrate compassion into these times? I'm taking Karen Armstrong's quote very much to heart.
Last year I watched a TED talk that she gave on compassion. Actually, she was the initiator of a series on compassion. Following hers, there were talks by people of all faiths. It was, it is, beautiful to see, to hear and to better appreciate that, at
the heart of all faiths, there is the valuing of love and compassion.
Let's live what is in the heart of our hearts...love and compassion. Really live it today.
Be aware that often when we set out to live a high ideal, we are put to the test. Something is likely to challenge us.
Be strong, Compassion Warrior. Every challenge to our kindness, empathy and compassion is an opportunity to strengthen our ability to walk more surely and steadily in the path
of compassion.
Holding faith,
Charlene
