"Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without any expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you'll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you'll
find that you have more of it."
~ Ralph Marston
Another beautiful habit is to tell people what we admire about them and to commend them for their strengths.
Sometimes, these qualities are things that seem to be
stronger in others than in us. But they can also be a talent or character trait we seem to share equally.
When I was younger, especially in my 20s, I held back when I noticed such things because I sometimes felt insecure and - I will admit - envious.
For example, my sister-in-law was extremely creative with DIY house decorating. She could do amazing things with practically nothing. She still is very talented in that way (and many other ways) but now when I see what she has done, I'm delighted to say, "Wow! I love that about you!"
Now I know how
beautiful it feels to freely express admiration to others.
And, the truth is that whatever we see in others is in us too - at least to some extent - or we wouldn't even recognize it in them.
Today, let's make a point of giving thanks and praise to others. We
will all benefit from both the giving and the receiving.
Be like the sun. Shine your light on all.
With an open heart,
Charlene
