"To serve is beautiful, but only if it is done with joy and a whole heart and a free mind.”
~ Pearl S. Buck
Have you ever volunteered for something because you felt you should? Or said, "Yes" when you really wanted to say, "No"? I have, several times, and I'm guessing you have too.
Three times I agreed to serve on a board of directors because I felt that it was an honor to be asked. Yes, it took three "mistakes" on my part before I realized that I dislike that activity, it is not one of my strengths, and it was my ego what was agreeing to serve, not my
heart.
On the other hand, I experienced great joy and love when I was a Hospice volunteer, when I took care of special needs animals, when I helped cook and clean at a spiritual center, and when I visited women in prison and children in schools and shelters.
Let's use our time and talent to contribute toward a better world in wise ways in which we can be authentically
and joyfully ourselves.
Truly,
Charlene
