"We're taught to be ashamed of confusion, anger, fear and sadness, and to me they're of equal value to happiness, excitement and inspiration."
~ Alanis Morissette
Isn't it time for us to become accepting of all our emotions?
I'm reminded of a silly song I started singing to my grandchildren when they were toddlers and I wanted them to know that feelings are all okay and that I love them no matter what.
Now they're almost eight and I still sing it at
times. Here's one version of how it goes:
I love you when you're happy.
I love you when you're sad.
I love you when you're funny.
I love you when you're mad.
I love you when you're
sleepy.
I love you when you're weepy.
I love you when...
Care to try it? Aww, go on. Be silly. Sing it to yourself. The tune is whatever you make of it. Also the words. Make them up too. Add as many emotions and moods you can think of, then end with:
I love you all the time!
Let's make this a day to be light, open-hearted, unconditionally loving, and kind to ourselves and to all.
Singing and smiling,
Charlene
I love you when you're silly.
I love you when your not.
I love you when you're
chilly.
And like an old pill pot.
I love you when your cheery.
And when you're sad and teary.
Dreary, bleary, or eerie
No matter what, my dearie.
I
love you all the time!
With joy, compassion and reverence.
Charlene
