"Guard well within yourself that treasure, kindness. Know how to give without hesitation, how to
lose without regret, how to acquire without meanness."
~ George Sand
It seems to me that this is very much a time to guard our inner treasures, among them: kindness, especially kindness.
May we also guard our civility, courtesy, manners, reverence, ideals, values...all that is good and beautiful in us.
If we find ourselves in situations and places where the energy is mean-spirited, let's wisely remove ourselves or at least carefully protect ourselves from absorbing that energy.
Today, let's hold as a touchstone the Cherokee tale about the two hungry wolves
that live within each of us. May we refrain from feeding anything to the wolf that needs hate and fear to grow and instead give a super-sized "big meal" of loving kindness to the wolf that grows in compassion, hope, joy when fed these highest qualities.
