"Each of us is a beautiful creation. But we're all so afraid to let people see who we truly are. How often do we discourage one another, instead of celebrating our efforts? How often do we turn away from watching an awkward child dance? How often do we avoid eye contact when a person
speaks nervously? Who said we have to have pretty voices to sing? In heaven, all our voices sound beautiful."
~ Penny Kamp
Today I want to feature courage as demonstrated by Muskogee, Oklahoma resident, Penny
Kamp.
Penny and I first connected in 1999, when my husband and I were traveling throughout the U.S. in a motor home so that I could read and discuss The Twelve Gifts of Birth with many children and adults.
The book's message resonated with Penny. She wanted to help people better experience their gifts, especially hope.
Penny's dream was to produce and host a morning TV show that would feature the strengths, talents, beauty - all the gifts - in local people.
Despite a lot of discouragements, rejections, and warnings about failure, Penny manifested her dream. Her inspiring story is too long to tell here. It is featured in Touchstones: Stories for Living The Twelve Gifts, should you wish to read it.
But
I want to at least acknowledge her demonstration of truly living The Twelve Gifts, especially courage.
I think of Penny often, especially when I sing, because like Penny, my singing voice is not one of my strongest abilities. Penny sang
boldly, bravely and freely on one of her shows. That action, and her words about our voices in heaven, delight me,
encourage me, nurture me and more. They feed my soul.
Be not afraid. Be you. Sing your heart's song with love, joy and courage.
Reverence too,
Charlene
