~ Dionne Warwick
In a checkout line at a discount store yesterday, the man behind me and I made small talk while we waited. He commented how the giant candy bar he was getting for just $1.00 would cost $8.00 at the movie theater. I asked him if he was going
to see a movie.
"No," he said. "But my wife and I just saw A WRINKLE IN TIME the other day."
"Did you cry?" I asked because I had heard that the film stirs deep emotions and many viewers do cry.
"I sure did," he said. "Me and my wife, we cried like
babies."
Many adults, especially men, are reluctant to show tears or admit they cried. Usually that's the result of being told, "Don't cry" and being scolded when tears appeared. Perhaps even shamed. And so, for some, it takes courage to allow tears to flow.
I'm wishing tears of joy for us today. Or tears that come from hysterical belly laughing. But if tears of sadness come, may we let them flow too. Besides being cleansing, it is said that tears are evidence of Spirit moving through us.
With love and reverence,
Charlene
