"What can a pencil do for all of us? Amazing things. It can write transcendent poetry, uplifting music, or life-changing equations; it can sketch the future, give life to untold beauty, and communicate the full-force of our love and aspirations."
~ Adam Braun
I'm thinking of pencils in the hands of my grandchildren. I see them doing homework; playing tic, tac, toe and hangman; making maps; drawing fairies and super heroes; writing notes; making greeting cards and pictorial recipes and more.
I'm thinking of pencils in the hand of a particular artist, now deceased, who was a close friend of ours. We have five of her works on our walls. Their softness holds love for the subject and reverence for the Creator of that subject.
I'm also thinking of something Mother Teresa said about pencils, or rather about us being like pencils in the hand of God writing love letters to
the world.
Let's notice pencils today. Pay attention to how they are being used. Observe their effects. Consider how you are like a pencil. Feel for how you are being guided. What wants to be expressed through you? Surely it is a message of love.
And beauty,
Charlene
