"Sharpening the saw...This is the single most powerful investment we can ever make in life-investment in ourselves." *
~ Stephen R. Covey
Before I began chemotherapy treatment in 2000, my oncologist said, "This is a
time that calls for strength. Do what makes you strong."
Being highly motivated to release cancer, I followed his advice and incorporated activities into my daily life that helped me to feel relaxed, confident, grateful, joyful, hopeful...strong in body, mind and spirit.
The benefits were so powerful that I intended to continue the habit of them for the
rest of my life. And for years I did.
Being human however, little by little, this and that gradually fell by the wayside. And, little by little, my zest and sense of well-being lessened.
(To tell you the truth, I've got several areas that need saw-sharpening. For example, I'd like to re-organize closets and drawers and maintain them that way with regular saw sharpening.)
Can you relate? If so, join me in
saw-sharpening, especially to your inner strength by doing "what makes you strong."
With love,
Charlene
* "Sharpen the Saw means preserving and enhancing the greatest asset you have--you. It means having a balanced program for self-renewal in the four areas of your life: physical, social/emotional, mental, and spiritual. Here are some examples of activities:
Physical: Beneficial eating, exercising, and
resting.
Social/Emotional: Making social and meaningful connections with others.
Mental: Learning, reading, writing, and teaching
Spiritual: Spending time in nature, expanding spiritual self through meditation, music, art, prayer, or service" (Stephen R.
Covey)
