"What the New Year brings to you will depend a great deal on what you bring to the New Year."
~ Vern McLellan
This reminds me of a teaching story about a person moving to a new community. Encountering a resident from that new community at its outskirts, the newcomer asks what the people ahead are like.
The resident asks, "What were the people like where you came from?"
No matter the answer, the resident answers that the newcomer will pretty much find the same sort of people in the new location.
Many simple but profound stories aim to help us see that we experience what we expect to experience.
People everywhere will be as we judge them and expect them to
be.
The same is true for a new year. Will it be humdrum, boring, terrible, miserable and awful? Or will it be awe-filled, amazing, healing, wonder-filled, beauty-full, precious, lively and loving?
A lot depends on what we expect from life and how we see
ourselves and others.
May we see with eyes and hearts opened, ready for awakenings and awesome beauty.
So be it,
Charlene
