"The only advantage of not being too good a housekeeper is that your guests are so pleased to feel how much better they are."
~ Eleanor Roosevelt
Ha ha. A good one Mrs. Roosevelt.
While this quote is funny and somewhat true, it's carries a bit of sadness and a subtle serious message too.
All too often we do compare ourselves with others. Are we "better" or "worse" than they are in this way and that situation. This kind of thinking can make us judgmental, lead to
feeling either superior or inferior, and hurt us in other ways. That's the sad part. The message is: enough of that!
So along with a laugh, let's love ourselves as we are today. Others too.
Although Eleanor felt inadequate at times, she always reached within for strength and courage. She also accepted that no one is perfect. She encourages us to look for the good, find what we respect in someone and focus on
that.
So wise!
Loving and learning,
Charlene
PS - Speaking of looking for the good, a friend of mine, Angela Howell, is launching a book today. Finding the Gift is a collection of 366 reflections on life's gifts. Perhaps you'd like to check it out,
especially since you, like me, appreciate daily meditations. Releasing today, the e-book is .99 and it's free on Kindle Unlimited. There's a paperback format too.
