TODAY'S TOUCHSTONE

"Notice that the stiffest tree is most easily cracked, while the bamboo or willow survives by bending with the wind."
                                            ~ Bruce Lee

One of my favorite places in the gardens at Sanibel Moorings is a walkway corner where a cluster of bamboo reminds me to stand tall and be flexible.

One windy morning last week the grouping gifted me with a percussion concert. As breezes blew, the leaves lightly drum brushed which complimented the deep clacking sounds the stalks made as they swayed and knocked against one another.

The bamboo's wise bending in the wind for survival makes beautiful music too!

It seems to me that we too create workings of art and bring beauty into the world when we are flexible.

Let's notice whenever we are rigid in our thinking today. Remembering this bamboo lesson, let's become willing to soften our stance and listen in order to understand other points of view.

Let's gently, carefully and gracefully bend for give and take approaches that will result in win-win outcomes in all the areas of our lives.

Toward peace and harmony,
Charlene
