"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul." ~ John Muir
Along with feeding our bodies, we need to feed our souls with something that is natural. And what is more natural than nature?
My husband, Frank, and I just returned from a 50th-anniversary celebratory trip.
I mention it for three reasons.
The first is to acknowledge our enduring best-friendship.
In order to survive and thrive relationships need loving care, forgiving, listening to understand, as well as playfulness, adventure, and growth. Respect and kindness too. Why not give our best to spouses, siblings, parents, children,
everyone? Our souls need real relationships too.
Secondly, I acknowledge that getting my touchstones done was problematic during the past two week while Frank are I were away and mostly out of touch. I'll be back in the groove as soon as I recover from the time changes.
Thirdly, I want to acknowledge the soul-nurturing beauty we saw in the Cotswold area of the UK, where wildflowers grow profusely along roadsides, where rolling green hills stretch for miles and miles, where nature somehow seems especially alive and
healthy, even joyful, if that makes sense to you.
Even if you don't feel drawn to wilderness areas as John Muir was, or even rural areas as I am, let some form of Mother Nature's beauty resonate with the beauty in you and strengthen the strength in you.
Consider this quote from Mohammad: "If I had but two loaves of bread, I would sell one and buy hyacinths, for they would feed my soul.”
With love for you and all of creation,
Charlene
