"Follow your passion, stay true to yourself, never follow someone else’s path unless you’re in the woods and you’re lost and you see a path then by all means you should follow that." ~ Ellen DeGeneres
Have you ever been lost in the woods? One fall afternoon many years ago my husband and I were lost for about an hour in the 64,800 acres of Allegany State Park in Western New York. Just as the sky darkened, clouds thickened, and it began to drizzle, we found a side trail and followed it to a main trail.
Have you ever followed a life trail that wasn't your own? I've been lost for while in that way too. Like finding the main trail in the forest, it was a great relief to return to my own true trail.
But even if we are "off path" or we haven't yet determined our true path, we can still be authentic by being real and honest about what we're experiencing.
Being real and true to ourselves often takes courage, sometimes even in small matters. The good news is that we all have it within us. And while it feels quite wonderful to find our way when we're lost, it is truly wondrous when we find and use courage to speak our truth, follow our path, and use our power.
Truly.
