If not the greatest, health is among the great gifts we can give our families, the world, and ourselves.
Health is also among the things we evaluate as we begin a new year. How is yours? Mine is calling for tender loving care...improvement.
As I began to reflect on all this, the board game Careers came to mind. Why?
Perhaps it's because I recently played this game with my grandchildren. But I see meaning and a real connection among health, a new year, and Careers: It's the Start square on that game board.
Unlike most board games, in Careers, players pass the Start square again and again, but it's not a negative. In fact, landing squarely on the Start square is great because your salary payment is doubled when you do.
The message I'm getting for myself, which I offer to you, is this: It's okay to begin a life learning yet again. Bring compassion to it as well as commitment.
I'm not ill. But my well-being needs to be renewed and strengthened. So I'm again beginning the basics of The Twelve Gifts Path to Healing, Health, and Well-Being.
