To refresh ourselves today, let's first open our minds and hearts to the gift of imagination. Are you able to perceive the top image as a window covered with a sheer curtain? You can see into it but not clearly.
The second image is clear. Can you pretend that is because the curtain was lifted and the window was opened? This imaginary opening is meant to resemble opening windows (or doors) on a December advent calendar and to symbolize you and I opening ourselves to life's gifts day-by-day.
Let's open ourselves to wabi sabi beauty today too, as we did yesterday. Wabi sabi is a Japanese approach to beauty that appreciates imperfections, asymmetrical designs, and the weathering and wearing down of creations, both natural and man-made. In western culture, we probably would remove the little brown stem floating next to the flower in the photo. What else might make this Sanibel Island photo closer to western culture perfection? How do you feel about the
wabi-sabi, more relaxed approach? There are many more possible insights to gain from this touchstone. Invite them and they will come.
Wishing you healthy imaginings, helpful insights, and happy ah-ha understandings.
Hopeful ones too,
Charlene
