"Gratitude bestows reverence, allowing us to encounter everyday epiphanies, those transcendent moments of awe that change how we experience life and the
world."
~ John Milton
Of all our inner gifts, reverence seems vitally important now. "Without reverence for life, mankind has no future," said Albert Schweitzer. "By having a reverence for life, we enter into a spiritual relation with the world. By practicing reverence for life we become good, deep, and alive."
At least once today, let's take a break from our busyness. The intention is to
step off our well worn tracks, step back from our technology gadgets, and step toward a connection with nature. Your step may be as simple as stepping outdoors. If you can, feel the grass, soil, or sand in direct contact with your feet. Maybe go for a walk. Or lie on the ground. Feel the coolness or warmth of the earth. Watch for animal life. Take notice of what you first see. The bird, the squirrel, the butterfly, the dog, another human being. Listen.
Remember that
we are animals too. And we are all part of the One Wondrous Web. Today, may we experience ourselves as good, deep, and alive.
With reverence and love for all life,
Charlene
