"We tend to think of heroes only in terms of violent combat, whether it's against enemies or a natural disaster. But
human beings also perform radical acts of compassion; we just don't talk about them, or we don't talk about them as much." ~ Diane Ackerman
Radical
compassion. What does it look like? Feel like? Perhaps you've experienced it.
I believe we're all capable of radical empathy, forgiveness, and caring for our fellow human
beings, for animals, and for all forms of life.
What if we regularly saw examples of such compassion in books and films and on news reports? Perhaps the love in our hearts would start resonating at the frequency of advanced compassion. Maybe we
would tune in to life differently, with more understanding and kindness.
Today, let's watch for ways we can act with compassion at any level. The actions we take may be mild, but every caring act has influence in the world. Let's also look for examples of radical compassion and stretch ourselves toward
practicing it.
With courage,
