"There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." ~ Edith Wharton
Can
you recall a time when someone was like a magic mirror, reflecting to you something valuable that you had not previously seen in yourself? Here is a personal sharing from someone who responded to this question:
"I was in fourth grade. Hidden by a dark heavy sweater. Scared all the time. I felt stupid. I did not do well in school and received a lot of Ds and Fs. My teacher, Mrs. Hill, came up to me one day and said,
'Pammy, you know, you are very smart.' I am getting chills as I write this. That changed my life. That little statement. I started getting As. No one had ever told me I was smart. Many years went by. One year I went back and thanked her. And here I am, 67 years old, keeping Mrs. Hill in my prayers every morning because she believed in me.There is always someone who believes in you. Just keep your heart open to receive. Thank you, Mrs. Hill!" (from Tammy in Los Angeles, CA)
And
thank you, Tammy!
Let's be imaginative about ways we can be candles and mirrors in the world, spreading light.
And love,
