"Thank God I have the seeing eye, that is to say, as I lie in bed I can walk step by step on the fells and rough land seeing every stone and flower and patch of bog and cotton pass where my old legs will never take me again."
~ Beatrix Potter
While staying in the here and now is healthy and wise, using imagination to revisit the past and envision the future has power too. It's been said that imagination is the true magic carpet.
Last Saturday I spoke with a friend who was in college with my husband and me. Mostly we talked about
our present lives and ways our paths may cross again. But there was something enlivening and soul-nurturing to use my "seeing eye" to again walk the paths at St. Bonaventure University; to view the locally-famous Merton's Heart (the heart-shaped clearing on the forested hill seen from campus); to philosophize with idealistic students; to attend classes, to socialize, to cheer at basketball games; and to fall in love.
Where might you want your "seeing
eye" to take you today?
With joy,
Charlene
