"Try to remember the moment
when you felt clearly the gift to be truly alive."
from Listen, The Monks of the Weston Priority
Music can bring us back into moments when we felt truly alive.
The music from the Monks of the Weston Priory is one of my vehicles to such moments, especially the song, Listen.
Another is the folk music from the 60s. Among them is Try to Remember from The Brothers Four.
Try to remember...
The kind of September...
When life was slow and oh, so mellow...
When love was an ember about to billow...
The fire of September that made us mellow...
Deep in December, our hearts should remember
And follow...
We can't go back to our childhood days and the stages of youth, but our hearts can be renewed with a zest for living, especially when we remember the best moments of the past with gratitude.
However you get there, remember a time when your ideals were high, your senses were sharp, and you imagined making a difference.
Let's go forward carrying our highest ideals and dreams and act upon them.
With love, joy and zest,
Charlene
