"Mistakes are always forgivable, if one has the courage to admit them."
- Bruce Lee
And mistakes are forgiven when we apply compassion, which is the fourth of The Twelve Gifts.
The first gift is Strength.
The second gift is Beauty.
The third gift is Courage.
The fourth gift is Compassion.
Mistakes are opportunities to practice compassion. Actually, they hold many opportunities.
I made a mistake when I created the meme for Today's Touchstone. It's a little one. But I recognized it immediately when I opened today's touchstone at 5:00 am and saw, "The third gift is beauty." I know so well that beauty is the second gift.
I said "Oops" and wondered why I didn't catch it last night. My stomach tightened a little with a mild upset. In the past, my reaction to mistakes of any kind and of any size was much more intense. I'd feel nauseous.
How do you feel when you make mistakes?
The touchstone I wrote last night for today is about putting beauty into everything we do today. Love and compassion too. These gifts and others are in this message to you.
With self compassion and appreciation for my progress in releasing perfectionism, I wish to encourage and applaud you in all the ways you are learning and growing.
With gratitude for our connection, there's joy in this note too. Let's celebrate our progress and nourish our present lessons with a few quotes to consider:
“Too many people overvalue what they are not
and undervalue what they are.”
- Malcolm S. Forbes
“Remember, you have been criticizing yourself for years
and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”
- Louise Hay
“You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe,
deserve your love and affection.”
- Sharon Salzberg
“As I get older, the more I stay focused
on the acceptance of myself and others,
and choose compassion over judgment...”
- Tracee Ellis Ross
As we get older, let's continue to become more accepting of ourselves and one another. Let's embrace humanity and all creation.
With love,
Charlene
