"We all have the extraordinary coded into us, waiting to be released."
- Jean Houston
Every person is both ordinary and extraordinary. This is true for animals too. And plants.
Consider the beautyberry plant. When not in bloom, it's easy to overlook. Much of the time it can appear to be a ho-hum shrub. Very ordinary. Even in full flower, the clusters of tiny white blossoms can easily be missed by the human eye. The plain green berries that follow can also go unnoticed.
But in time, the berries ripen into glistening fruits that resemble shiny gems - berries that live up to their name. They are actually quite extraordinary in many ways, not only in appearance.
We are all transforming in our own time, in our own way. Trust what is developing within your beautiful being, ripening, perhaps waiting to be discovered by you, then brought forth.
Of course, you are already extraordinary. In what way? Most likely there are ways you recognize - or glimpse - and ways you don't not yet see. But others do. May you soon see them too.
With love,
Charlene

PS - In The Twelve Gifts from the Garden, I write about numerous things I learned from the beautyberry plant. You can read about these lessons in the "Fruit of the Bloom" story. Perhaps you already have.
I felt prompted to share this "both ordinary and extraordinary" lesson today.
More beautyberry wisdoms will be coming, so watch for Today's Touchstone in your mailbox.
If you just subscribed, welcome! For a time I am sending touchstones "now and then" instead of daily.
But I wish you the best of life's gifts every day! Every single day you are in my thoughts and on my heart. Thank for following Today's Touchstone and The Twelve Gifts.
Below is a photo of Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow flowers. They too offer valuable lessons. One is to appreciate each day, each moment, even the challenging ones. Life is precious.
Please stay safe, healthy, hopeful, and at peace,
Charlene
