“The whole course of human history may depend on a change of heart in one solitary and even humble individual." - M. Scott Peck
Is this true? It certainly is true when we consider one heart, another one heart, and another, and another.
At some point a critical mass is reached and a shift happens.
Let's reflect on our own circumstances. Is there an issue, an area of our lives, a relationship, anything that is calling for a change of heart?
Perhaps this is the day we forgive, or let go, or make the call, or take the first step. And perhaps, besides the good that happens in our circumstance, something great happens far beyond us.
Let's be open to healings, to awakenings, and to miracles.
With love and faith,
Charlene
PS - I wrote the touchstone above days ago. In fact, it was scheduled to be sent on Monday, then Tuesday, and then yesterday. For some reason I moved it ahead again and again. So, while I did not write it with any particular event or circumstance in mind, it seems to have added meaning today.
Every day there are the questions: How we respond to life? To our personal challenges? To our loved ones when they are troubled or troubling to us? To those who irk us? To those we irk? These things matter every day.
But today, there is a larger question and an opportunity before each of us. How do we respond to what happened in the U.S. yesterday? How do we relate to our neighbors and family members who see things differently that we do? How do we act in the midst of contentiousness?
No matter how we percieve things, no matter what we believe, let's first open our hearts to one another, to the human condition, to the high ideals of the Constitution of the United States, and to the highest qualities and ideals in us.
There is so much beauty and talent within each human person. Let's recognize that in every child and adult and nurture it.
Maybe this is the day that a great shift happens because one of us has a change of heart. Maybe it's one heart here and another there, and hearts opening in many places.
With love, hope, reverence, and faith,
Charlene
