“We are not going to change the whole world, but we can change ourselves and feel as free as birds. We can be serene even in the midst of calamities and, by our serenity, make others more traquil." ~ Swami Satchidananda
Can we? Really? Yes, with practice, we can! And there are so many opportunities for us to practice now!
When something happens to disturb our peace, let's try, again and again, to respond with love instead of reacting with harshness. Eventually this can be natural for us.
Perhaps it already is a habit for you. May it become habitual for each of us. Here's a soothing activity that can help.
When something triggers upset, pause, place one hand over your heart area and the other over your belly. Close your eyes. Breathe slowly and deeply for a few moments while intending to reach for the peace within you.
However you choose to be soothed, remember: you do have peace within you. We all do. And we have the power to choose it, seed it, and spread it.
With love and kindness,
Charlene
