“Sense the blessings of the earth in the perfect arc of a ripe tangerine, the taste of warm, fresh bread, the circling flight of birds, the lavender color of the sky shining in a late afternoon rain puddle…” ~ Jack
Kornfield
What does this have to do with the challenges we face today?
Right now, many of us do not see eye to eye. We need to find common ground. To do this we need to step up to higher ground. How do we do that? One way is by seeing heart to heart. And one way we do this is by experiencing present
moments richly and fully with our senses.
As Oscar Wilde said, "Nothing can cure the soul but the senses, just as nothing can cure the senses but the soul."
Recall a time when you sensed “the blessings of the earth," as Jack Kornfield described.
Did you feel more aware, awake, and alive when all your senses were engaged? Did you sense the world differently, maybe with greater awe, gratitude, and joy?
The “Photo of the Day” story shown in today's image offers a way to have this happen regularly.
Whether or not you read that story, begin to better notice and appreciate the sights, sounds, scents, tastes, and touches that please your senses and open your heart.
The take-away from this post is: our senses can heal our souls and lift us to higher ground. We can all contribute to this. Perhaps we must.
With love and hope for unity and peace,
Charlene
