I so agree. In fact, my book, The Thirteenth Gift, is about one of the riches of reverence: wonder.
These quotes from that book express it well:
"Wisdom begins in wonder," said Socrates.
According to Albert Einstein, wonder is the source of all true art and science.
"Without it we are as good as dead," he said.
"Everything, even darkness and silence, has wonder," said Helen Keller.
"The more I wonder, the more I love." said Alice Walker
As young children we saw the world with wonder everyday. We can renew and experience that reverence we once knew. So much will change when we do.
One way to renew reverence is to spend at least five minutes in nature every day. Notice the light, the sights, the sounds, and the scents while being fully present. Let yourself be awed by something.
Consider reading The Twelve Gifts from the Garden. Watch what happens within you. It was written with a great deal of reverence.
Let me know how these suggestions work for you.
With love,
Charlene
PS - Beneath the green filter and the white words on today's image is a very worn photo of me, at about age three, standing in front of an unpainted picket fence. It's meant to be a reminder to me and to you, for us to have reverence for the little one we once were, the wonder child still within us. If you wish to see that photo of me, where I first lived, and the site of my first garden, please click here to visit my website and, once there, click on "Meet Charlene."
