“The greatest pleasure I know is to do a good action by stealth and have it found out by accident." ~ Charles Lamb
A few weeks before Christmas I found a poinsettia plant at my front door. There was no card. No note. No hint of who left it. I still don't know. It was a lovely surprise. And as much as I'd like to find out, I also appreciate the not knowing.
A few months earlier, after painting stones for the first time, I left one on a certain neighbor's entry way. It was fun to leave a little surprise by stealth, at night. I was found out though, and not by accident. While out for dinner, that neighbor heard her security sound, which not only alerted her that someone
was near her front door, but it showed her who. I was caught on film. There was a fun surprise in that for both of us.
Let's do some caring action by stealth today.
Put coins in an expired meter. Leave a plant by the door. Shovel snow from a walkway. Trim hedges. Send an anonymous thinking of you card. Give someone a lottery ticket. Retrieve your neighbor's garbage can from the curb after collection.
If it can't be done in secret, do some act of kindness anyway.
With love and joy,
Charlene
