“I like flaws and feel more comfortable around people who have them. I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.” ~ Augusten Burroughs
Sure we've got them. But I don't think you, or I, or Augusten Burroughs, or anyone is made entirely of flaws.
He makes a strong point though. I suspect if we talked this through with one another and with Mr. Burroughs, we'd find agreement in that we like people who can admit their foibles and laugh at themselves. We're comfortable with people who admit when they don't know something and when they make mistakes. We admire people who are honest about their strengths and weaknesses. People who are real.
How much healthier, happier, and more peaceful we would be, will be, when we see and appreciate both the goodness and the flawed beauty in everyone and everything.
Today, let's be ourselves.
With love, courage, compassion, and reverence,
Charlene
