"For a day, just for a day,
Talk about that which disturbs no one
And bring some peace into your
Beautiful eyes." ~Hafiz
Would you agree that nearly every day at least one thing happens that triggers upset in us? Typically we "share" that with others by complaining, whining, or venting. Maybe even ranting and raging. Yes?
Yesterday, we had our phone number "spoofed," which meant that people were receiving spam-like calls from our phone. More than 50 people called our number to find out who was calling them. Ever have this happen to you?
Because I had come across the above Hafiz quote, I thought about how I could best respond to each inquiry. How might I avoid further disturbance to everyone affected, including my husband and me?
After a straightforward explanation and a simple apology, I wished each person a happy, healthy and hopeful new year. The consequences included warm words exchanged, light chuckles, softened hearts, and feelings of friendship.
Today:
Let's be mindful of our thoughts and choose our words with care, avoiding gossip, criticism, and complaining.
Let's commit to be respectful and uplifting, appreciative and encouraging, and supportive and kind in all our encounters.
So be it.
For peace,
Charlene
