"When people simply take brief snippets of time out of their everyday lives to notice the natural world around them, their general happiness and well-being tends to increase." ~ Susan Perry
How often, in the course of a day, do you stop to observe nature?
In an article titled: Noticing Nature During Your Daily Routine Can Help Boost Well-Being, Study Finds, columnist Susan Perry reports that observing nature is helpful in fostering self-esteem, sociability, hope, joy, peace, and health.
In this time of high stress, noticing nature is something loving, kind, reverent, and wise we can do for ourselves every day. It's simple, easy, and free. It can be fun too. Sometimes, funny.
So let's set out today prepared to notice nature. See what attracts your attention. It might be fast-moving clouds, scampering squirrels, sunlight sparkling on a lake, a tree bending in the wind, the scent of pine trees, the honks of migrating geese, a stream flowing, or a hundred thousand other
things.
For me yesterday, it was a hawk perched on a weather vane. I watched until it lifted, spread its wings and flew out of sight.
Let's notice life!
With reverence and joy,
Charlene
