"If you want to touch the past, touch a rock. If you want to touch the present, touch a flower. If you want to touch the future, touch a life.” – Author Unknown
Nice. Concise. We get it. Nothing needs to be added.
Amen,
Charlene
But wait. We could add action.
(If you feel "complete" with Today's Touchstone, have a wonder-filled day. I'll meet you here tomorrow.)
If you want to experience these words, ideas will come to you. If you'd like suggestions, try one, two, or all three of the possible activities below.
ROCK: To honor the past, hold a rock. Feel its strength and weight. Then place it in a pocket or handbag. Carry it with you for awhile. When you decide to leave your rock behind, leave regrets and resentments with the rock and its 2 billion year perspective. Keep the insights, guidance, and wisdom you gained and give thanks.
FLOWER: To open your heart, notice a flower. Be present with it. Touch it with your senses of sight and smell. Instead of picking the flower, photograph it. Let it live. See if you can feel how the beauty of the flower stirred the beauty inside you.
A LIFE: Who knows the number of lives you'll touch with your warm smile, your loving eyes, your attentive listening, and your encouraging words? Let kindness, respect, help, and hugs ripple out from you. Many who are touched will carry your caring into the future.
Truly,
Charlene
