"Trees...will teach you that which you can never learn from masters." ~ Saint Bernard
Besides offering us many life lessons, trees can comfort us, ground us, inspire us, and help us heal.
Indian yogi Jaggi Vasudev sees trees as our closest relatives. "What trees exhale, we inhale; what we exhale, they inhale. They are half our respiratory system," he says.
Isn't creation amazing?
And yet "we often take for granted the beauty of this world: the flowers, the trees, the birds, the clouds - even those we love," said businessman Joseph B. Wirthlin, before he died. "Because we see things so often, we see them less and less."
Today, let's notice flowers, trees, birds, and clouds. Let's notice the people and animals we love. I'm noticing my 19-year-old cat, Minka, who is sitting next to me as I write this. When I noticed three trees on a hill this morning, I got out of my car to photograph them.
I'm especially sensitive to noticing today because I'm remembering my mom. It is the 23 anniversary of her death, and oh, how I miss her.
May missing our deceased loved ones help us to better notice and appreciate the wonders of this world.
Every day,
Charlene
