"Every morning you greet me...You look happy to meet me." ~ Rogers and Hammerstein
In the song from The Sound of Music, what greets a person each morning is the delicate Apine flower, Edelweiss.
As you probably know, Edelweiss is a love song, expressing love for the flower and love for the land on which it grows, the homeland.
We can play it in our minds and heart each morning as we see something that stirs wonderment for life, gratitude for being alive, and love for Life Itself.
Lately, perhaps because I have been going outdoors before sunrise, I have felt greeted by such things as the dew, the hint of light, a waking flower, or a neighbor walking her dog. Yesterday it was the moon still big and bright in the pre-dawn sky.
Let something greet you sometime today. It doesn't have to happen in early morning, although those are powerful hours. Notice what you are happy to see. Feel for the connection you have with that something. Open yourself to the Love and the Life that is meeting you.
Today and every day,
Charlene
P.S. Here is a larger portion of the lyrics.
"Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Every morning you greet me
Small and white, clean and bright
You look happy to meet me.
Blossom of snow, may you bloom and grow
Bloom and grow forever
Edelweiss, Edelweiss
Bless my homeland forever."
May all homelands be blessed. May Earth be blessed, with peace.
