'To live and not to know why the cranes fly, why children are born, why there are stars in the sky. You must know why you are alive, or else everything is nonsense, just blowing in the wind." ~ Anton Chekhov
First, a song comes to mind. Let's consider the questions asked:
"How many roads must a man walk down
Before you call him a man?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand?
Yes, 'n' how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind
Yes, 'n' how many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea?
Yes, 'n' how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free?
Yes, 'n' how many times can a man turn his head
And pretend that he just doesn't see?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind."
(Bob Dylan)
What might we each do to move us toward a more kind, loving, safe, healthy, and peaceful world for all? Let's ask and listen.
Before signing, I want to acknowledge cranes. I don't know why or how they fly. With their size and shape it seems unlikely that they would. But they do. And they delight my husband and I when they come to visit.
Let's be grateful for all birds and fur creatures, all creatures, including we human ones. Join me in giving thanks for everything, including the trees and plants? They help us breathe.
I especially want to acknowledge the children - all the children of the world. In truth we are all much more alike than we are different.
Why are we here? To love. So let's love. Let's also be kind and hold hope and use our time and talent to help make this world a better place.
Amen,
Charlene
