"Resolve to be tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving, and tolerant of the weak and the wrong. Sometime in life you will have been all of these.” ~ George Washington Carver
And why not resolve to be tender, compassionate, sympathetic, and tolerant to all?
Sure, we'll sometimes forget our resolve and fail. Maybe even often. Maybe several times a day.
But if we sincerely aim each morning to treat everyone with respect it will make a difference in our hearts, in our health, in our homes, in every area of our lives, and in the lives of others.
If we all did this, the impact would be enormous.
And it is who we are at our core. We come into the world ready to love and be loved, to delight in life, to learn, to play, to trust, and to be open to friendship with all.
As the South Pacific song goes, children are taught to judge, hate, shun, snub, and look down on others. It's not who they...we... naturally are.
If we learned prejudice by listening and watching the actions of some adults in our lives, we can unlearn it and return to the wisdom we once knew.
Toward peace,

"You've got to be taught
To hate and fear, you've got to be taught from year to year
It's got to be drummed in your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught
To be afraid of people
Whose eyes are oddly made
And people whose skin is a different shade
You've got to be carefully taught." ~ Oscar Hammerstein
