"The earth laughs in flowers." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Might she weep in flowers too?
This delicate "Weeping Hibiscus" was one of the few hibiscuses in bloom at Sanibel Moorings when my husband and I visited after hurricane Irma had barraged the island.
With scores of trees damaged and downed, it seemed as if the garden was grieving. It seemed saddened and yet determined to thrive again, which it has.
Weeping Hibiscus is in bloom here now.
This tear-drop-like flower moves me in many ways. I'm reminded that among us there are always people who are grieving, laughing, dancing, dying, giving birth, waking up, and experiencing everything there is to experience.
There's a lot going on within and among all the living things in the garden too. There's so much we don't yet know about how plants communicate and work together. Have you wondered about the garden of earth? Does it have awareness? What does it know? Might it grieve? There's so much wonder to wonder about.
With awe and reverence,
Charlene
